Yesterday saw the arrival of two new additions – of the mechanical kind – to the Corgi family.
Due to increasing production, we decided that it was time to expand the fleet of machines that we operate here at Corgi HQ.
These particular machines are used to produce our best-selling fine-weight cotton socks, in the wide range of colours and patterns that Corgi is best known for. Once the machines have done their bit, the socks, in the form of tubes open at both ends, go into the main part of the factory where the toes are closed, or linked, by hand. The linkers carefully line up the stitches on the front and back of each toe before stitching them together. This is a highly skilled operation that takes several months to learn.
The new additions mean that we now have 11 of these machines in total – more than double the amount used here just two years ago. That’s a whole lot more Corgi socks being sent out into the world!!
